Kevin Costner may be putting diaper duty on hold to return to the big screen in a sequel to his award-winning baseball movie “Bull Durham.”
According to reports, Costner has been meeting with the film’s director Ron Shelton to discuss the possibility of resurrecting his Crash Davis character in a sequel to the 1988 hit movie.
New York gossip column PageSix is also reporting that actress Susan Sarandon has already agreed to return to play Annie Savoy.
“Bull Durham,” which starred Costner, Sarandon and Tim Robbins, was nominated for a Best Screenplay Oscar back in 1989.
Costner has taken a break from major film roles since his youngest son was born in May 2007.
Matthew Broderick’s break from the Great White Way is also reportedly over. The actor just announced that he plans to return to Broadway next spring in a revival of “The Philanthropist,” a comedy by English playwright Christopher Hampton.
Broderick’s last Broadway appearance was in the 2005 revival of “The Odd Couple.” This time around the award-winning actor will portrays Philip, a deeply private college professor, who has a hard time dealing with interpersonal relationships.
“The Philanthropist” is set to open on April 26, 2009, at the American Airlines Theatre.
Finally, Anne Hathaway is moving on from her recent stint as host of “Saturday Night Live” by joining the cast of Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hathaway has signed on to play the White Queen, a benevolent monarch who is deposed and banished by her sister, the Red Queen, who is being played by Burton’s wife Helena Bonham Carter. Actress Mia Wasikowska has already agreed to play Alice while Johnny Depp will play the Mad Hatter.
The film will reportedly be shot using new technology that blends live-action footage and animation.
