Are you living your life as if someone is watching you? You should be. There are many who are watching how you live. Who is watching how you live your life? Your spouse and children watch how you live. Your friends watch how you live. Your co-workers watch how you live. Strangers watch how you live.
Why does it matter who is watching how you live your life as a Christian? There are several reasons it matters who is watching how you live your life.
First, your children will be looking to you as a guide for how they should live their lives. Children are observant and can pick up on even the tiniest things. You want to set the right example for them, not the wrong one.
Second, when your friends and co-workers watch you, you want (and need) to show them that you are living your life as a Christian. Hypocrisy (specifically here- saying you are a Christian but behaving otherwise) has a powerful negative effect on sharing the gospel with others. Christians need to live their lives in such as way that those around them know they are different.
Thirdly, the strangers watching how you live may see something in you that sparks their interest. Perhaps the lady behind you in line at the store this holiday season notices how patient you are with a cashier who is still learning her seasonal job. Maybe that begins a conversation which could lead to you sharing the Bible with her.
Yet there is Someone else who is watching you who has not been previously mentioned. There is Someone who is watching how you live who can see you at all times, even when you think you are alone. God is watching how you live your life each day. That simple thought alone should bring us into submission to Him. With each step we take in our lives we should remember that the Lord is watching everything we do.
