The colorful floor plan, drawn by the young boy, who was mistakenly left behind in the hit Christmas comedy film, details exactly how Kevin plans to protect the McCallister house from an invasion by bumbling burglars.
My 7-year-old made a replica of it.
Only hers features our entire neighborhood and it has nothing to do outwitting bandits. Rather, her crayon masterpiece highlights her plan of attack for trick-or-treating. The goal: Hit up all the homes that give out full-size candy bars before they run out.
We may be three weeks away from “Operation Candy Overload,” but my kid knows precisely who she will boo first this Halloween.
Now, she just has to decide what costume she will sport to execute her sugary scheme.
Thankfully, I know she won’t be dressing up as some of the most popular trending getups available to young candy collectors this Halloween.
According to the National Retail Federation, the top costumes for little girls continues to be princess outfits, though this year there has been a spike in interest for Smurfette and Strawberry Shortcake getups. While older girls are on the prowl for Mattel’s “Monster High” character costumes, including Frankie Stein, Clawdeen Wolf and Draculaura.
For young boys superhero costumes, such as Captain America and Green Lantern are all the rage. In addition, experts say there has been a run on zombie costumes which seem to be replacing last year’s vampire craze inspired by the “Twilight” book and movie franchise.
As for the top unisex Halloween costume among youngsters, the National Retail Federation says it’s all about the popular mobile phone app Angry Birds. Yes, this year your little one can dress up as her favorite aggravated avian in order to score big on October 31st.
