Tell me, do you exercise? Physically that is? We can all exercise our good judgment and our bad judgment. We can stretch our reason and we can outrun our obligations if we try. But my question is why aren’t you exercising? Do you have a solid, medical reason to not exercise?
If you need a few moments, I can wait. The truth is, no matter how great our excuses are, unless we are physically impaired or disabled, we don’t have a good answer for why we aren’t exercising. Now before you think I am pointing fingers at anyone, I am in the same boat. I spent several years intending to get into shape, wishing I was in better shape, always planning to get in better shape – but not actually doing what I was talking about doing.
The Benefits of Fitness
When you exercise regularly and increase your physical activity by just 30 minutes a day, you reap the following benefits:
- You are more productive and you have more energy to perform the activities in other areas
- You gain a more positive outlook where your emotional ups and downs are considered
- You are more capable of handling the mental challenges thrown your way
- You reduce the risk for many health problems from diabetes to cancer to heart disease and much, much more
- You look better and you feel better about how you look
- You are stronger and you have more endurance and your are better capable of looking after yourself and your needs
- You increase the quality of your life and according to some researchers, extend the length of your life as well
So again, let me ask you – why aren’t you exercising more? You benefit in every aspect of your life. If you spend just 30 minutes a day increasing your activity and you’re worried that 30 minutes is going to keep you from taking care of other things that you need to do, I would remind you – that those 30 minutes of physical activity will increase your productivity throughout the day and you won’t be missing that 30 minutes.
In this case, if you aren’t exercising regularly – you really don’t know what you’re missing. So – do you have an answer to the question yet? Why aren’t you exercising regularly?
