Why Do A Challenge?

I talked about the Fitness Magazine You Can Do It Challenge earlier and I’ve hosted my own challenges here as well. But why should you participate in a challenge?

Several reasons actually, the primary one being – it’s really nice to win or compete. A challenge gives you a direction to go in. It gives you goals to hit. It gives you a barometer to measure your progress against.

When you compete in a challenge – whether you are competing online or with a group of people – you are giving yourself and your fitness program a purpose.

Competition Breeds Control

Challenges and competition breed control. Control over yourself and your choices and your fitness program. The beauty of a workout program is that it is the ultimate control over your physical self. You are looking yourself in the eye and making the choices to make the changes that need to be made.

Whether your goals are to have more energy, have less stress, be healthier or simply lose weight – a challenge can help you do it. So I encourage you to give the You Can Do It challenge or another one like it a chance – you may just surprise yourself.

Don’t look for results in one day, one week or one month. Do the challenge, follow the guidelines and when the eight or twelve weeks are up – measure where you are. I bet you will surprise yourself.

Are you up for the challenge?
