My favorite places to shop are thrift stores. I am fortunate enough to have several different ones in my hometown to choose from. Everything is sold for a very inexpensive price. I almost always find something wonderful when I shop at the thrift stores.
Some of the most unique clothing I wear comes from thrift stores. I’ve found a beautiful white sweater with lacy crocheted edges, a long, black, velvet coat with lots of little buttons, and a denim skirt with ruffles on the back. I constantly get complements about how cute my capri jeans are. They have a delicately embroidered flower design on the ends of the legs. I found them at a thrift store. I live in a college town, which means that lots of new, or like new, clothing gets donated to the thrift stores every time a semester ends and the students move back home. When I visit one of these stores, I am pleasantly surprised by what I find.
Another thing I love about shopping for clothing at thrift stores is that I can find clothes that are already broken in, and very comfortable. They are the perfect place to shop for jeans. It’s fun to find brand new jeans for a fraction of what they would cost if I bought them from the boutique they originally came from. Finding previously worn jeans are even better, though, because they come to me pre-shrunk. I can trust that if the jeans fit me at the store, they will continue to fit me after I wash them. If you know how to discern good, usable, clothing from clothing that has been used up, you can find excellent deals at the thrift stores!
I love that the money I spend at thrift stores goes to a good cause. In my town, there is more than one goodwill store. Goodwill uses the money to assist people who need help getting back on their feet after something bad has happened. One of the thrift stores in my town uses the money to help people who are in need of hospice care, and are having trouble paying for it. When I shop at thrift stores, I feel good knowing that the money I spend is being used for a good cause.
Another great thing about thirft stores is the variety of items you can find there. They are the best places to shop when you are trying to put together a costume. You can find unique holiday decorations throughout the year. Books that were best sellers not too long ago can be found at these stores for just a few dollars.
