Of all the times of year to visit Disney World, why should you make you plans based around their six week Halloween celebration? The following reasons are my own and obviously not a paid opinion, but I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Disney World three times for their Halloween celebrations and I think it’s quite possibly the best time of year to go.
The Weather
The weather in Florida in October, while still warm and humid is not insufferably so. The nights are definitely cooler and many of the Halloween activities take place during the after dark from 7 until 11. You have to purchase special tickets to attend the Halloween after dark celebrations within the parks and my favorite and the one I have attended the most is the one at the Magic Kingdom.
The Fireworks
While Mickey’s Fantasmic at MGM Studios is perhaps one of the best fireworks and shows utilizing the Sorcerer Mickey from Fantasia and a dream sequence where the villains invade his dream. The fireworks and after dark parades at the Magic Kingdom are equally enchanting and the song “Boo to You” sticks out in my mind from the parade last year.

Trick or Treating in the Parks
The Magic Kingdom is a great place to see the players dressed up in their multitude of costumes from Donald Duck to Maleficent to Cruella deVille and more, but during the Halloween celebration you and your children get to dress up and play a part in the magic of the Magic Kingdom.
During the parades, the players distribute candy to the children lining the parade route and after wards, you can stroll through the park, enjoy the rides and trick or treat at various locations. As a suggestion though, no matter how much your child may want to wear their costume shoes – keep them in comfortable shoes that protect their feet. There’s still a lot of walking to do.
We saw lots of different costumed individuals throughout the park including a family of four in their Incredibles outfits. It was definitely a great deal of fun and my own little Belle enjoyed her time at the park. Halloween is probably my favorite season to visit Disney World – from the Halloween themes to the trick or treating to just the sheer fun that exists at the Disney World parks and resorts themselves.
