Hmmm… maybe this is the real reason his fiancee dumped him.
Julianne Hough , we should have believed you from the get go.
“Dancing with the Stars” champ Helio Castroneves may be shimming his way into a prison cell if federal prosecutors get their way.
The pro racecar driver turned celebrity hoofer on the hit ABC dance competition was indicted yesterday in a federal income tax case in Florida. Feds are accusing Castroneves of not paying taxes on more than $5 million. According to news reports, the 33-year-old Brazilian is being charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax evasion. In other words the Feds believe they have evidence that proves Castroneves (along with his sister, business manager and attorney, who were also indicted) tried to “conceal and disguise” the racing champ’s income.
According to court documents, one of the charges alleges that Castroneves garnered a $2 million paycheck from a Brazilian trading company but made it appear as though he only received $200,000.
The indictment also accuses Hough’s former two-stepping partner of using “an offshore Panamanian shell corporation Seven Promotions to conceal and disguise the true and correct amount of Castroneves’ income from the Internal Revenue Service.”
Meaning speed racer basically tried to pull a fast one by (allegedly) siphoning millions of dollars in income from 1999 to 2004 so he wouldn’t have to pay the U.S. government tax money he felt they shouldn’t get.
Castroneves is expected to appear in a Miami court today to face the conspiracy charges. If the rumba king and his crew are convicted on all charges, they could face up to 35 years in prison.
I wonder how these new revelations will affect Castroneves’ gig as a correspondent with TV’s “Entertainment Tonight?”
It’s all just a big misunderstanding, right, Helio?
