Win a Trip to See Some Dinosaurs!

dinosaur Does your young child have a fascination with dinosaurs? Would you like to be able to afford a trip to take your kids to see some awesome dinosaur exhibits? Enter the Big Adventure Sweepstakes that is being held by Amtrak and The Jim Henson Company. Someone will win a family trip for 4 to see dinosaurs!

I think that the majority of kids go through a “dinosaur phase”. This can affect both boys and girls, and typically hits when the child is between the ages of 4 and 7. It is a phase where a kid discovers dinosaurs and immediately becomes obsessed with them. Parents may get a bit tired, at times, from hearing a string of facts about dinosaurs, day after day. The “bright side” is that your child has discovered that learning can be fun, interesting, and exciting!

Another topic that young children tend to obsess about is trains. Sometimes, this begins with the Thomas the Train series. From there, it can evolve into a strong interest in all kids of trains, and everything about them. Again, parents can get a bit drained about their child’s intense interest in trains. On the plus side, perhaps he or she will grow up to become a train driver!

There is a sweepstakes that combines both of these childhood favorites. Amtrak and The Jim Henson Company have gotten together and created the “Amtrak – Dinosaur Train Big Adventure Sweepstakes”. Amtrak, of course, is the National Railroad Passenger Corporation. It provides transport for people by train.

The Jim Henson Company is best know for it’s children’s television programing. This includes “Sesame Street”, “The Muppets”, “Fraggle Rock”, and dozens more. One of the newer shows is called “Dinosaur Train”. It is designed for children who are ages 3 to 6. The show helps children to apply scientific thinking as they discover new types of dinosaur species, to compare and contrast dinosaurs to today’s creatures, and to embrace the living sciences of paleontology and natural science.

To enter the “Big Adventure Sweepstakes” all a parent or guardian needs to do is to fill out the form on that website. The Sweepstakes will end on August 31, 2012. Someone will win a trip for a family of 4 to go to Chicago and Washington, D.C., where the family will visit museums that have excellent dinosaur exhibits!

The trip is designed for 2 adults and 2 children. It comes with four nights hotel accommodations (1 in Chicago and 3 in Washington D.C.). You get one way rail (or air) travel from a major city near you to Chicago. The family who wins the sweepstakes will also get one way travel on Amtrak’s Capitol Limited in Sleeping Car Bedroom accommodations from Chicago to Washington D.C..

You will visit the Field Museum in Chicago, and the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.. The trip also includes admission to Madame Tussaud’s, and a pre-paid set dinner for four at Carmine’s in Washington D. C. (excluding alcoholic beverages). The winning family will return home via one way rail or air travel.
