Coffee and donuts are two things that go very well together. If you get your morning coffee from Dunkin Donuts, then you can enter their oddly named contest. Winners will get some “fame” on Facebook, or a year’s worth of Dunkin Donuts coffee.
National Coffee Day was celebrated on September 29, 2011. In honor of that “holiday”, Dunkin Donuts has created an interesting contest. It is called the “Chance for STARDDOM” contest. No, that isn’t a typo.
Both of the words that make up the name Dunkin Donuts start with D. Therefore, the company has put their trademark double letter D’s into name of this contest. They even colored the two letter D’s in their company colors. This makes them “pop” out of the middle of the “word” they are sitting in. It also makes the title into a glaringly obvious misspelling.
To enter this contest, you must take a photo of yourself. You must make a caption that describes why you are “the biggest DD Coffee Fan”. This contest doesn’t seem to have anything to do with their donuts at all. It’s all about the coffee!
You have to enter this contest between now, and October 21, 2011. The public, (which I think means anyone who has a Facebook page), will be able to see all the contest entries, and vote for who they think is the biggest DD Coffee Fan.
There will also be some official judges who will use a point system with each entry. 40% of the score will be based on the person’s “Passion for DD coffee”. 30% will be based on the “originality/ creativity” of the photo and the caption. The remaining 30% will be based on the “overall appeal” of the photo and the caption. Both the point system, and the public voting, will be used to determine who the winners of this contest will be.
When all the judging and voting is done, there will be a total of one Grand Prize Winner, and a total of ten First Prize Winners. The Grand Prize Winner will get to appear in an upcoming ad for Dunkin Donuts. I’m not sure if the ad will be a commercial (in video format), or if it will be an image (like a printed ad in the newspaper, or an ad that appears on the side of the page on Facebook). Maybe it will be both! I haven’t been able to find any specific details about this prize.
Ten people will be First Prize Winners. Each one will receive Dunkin Donuts coffee for a year. My best guess is that this prize will be given in the form of a gift card, but that is only a guess. Personally, I think I would rather have the year’s worth of Dunkin Donuts coffee, rather than the opportunity to appear in an advertisement.
