Winter Packages That Won’t Bust Your Budget

left

Our city’s Christmas parade takes place on Thursday. This Thursday. As in a mere two weeks after Halloween and more than a month before Santa makes his trip around the world delivering presents to good little boys and girls.

Consequently, I am not at all surprised to see an onslaught of advertisements for Christmas-themed travel packages. The bundled accommodations and activities are a cost-effective way to enjoy holiday festivities with your family. Some popular choices being offered for winter 2012 include:

West Virginia: White Sulphur Springs is home to the stunning Greenbrier Resort which is featuring a winter package dubbed “The Tribute to the Virginias.” From now through the end of December your entire clan can experience the magic of Christmas on the stunning property and its surrounding areas. From November 25th – 29th and December 16th – 19th, mid-week rates start at $59. The price includes luxurious accommodations, morning coffee service, historic interior tours, wireless Internet, and access to the resort’s fitness center and indoor pool. The package also includes afternoon tea, tickets to a live concert and passes to nightly movies. In addition, this year, The Greenbrier will also host five Holiday Shopping Weekends in November and December. During these special weekends, which are open to the public, registered event attendees, will receive a 25% discount on an item of their choice from select retail shops. Complimentary gift wrapping will be available and children can pose for photos with Santa Claus outside of Fizzy’s Land of Oz on November 24 and December 1, 8, 15 and 22.

San Diego: The legendary Hotel de Coronado is once again offering a unique Southern California experience with its Skating by the Sea attraction. The enchanting outdoor ice-skating rink sits adjacent to Coronado Beach and overlooks the Pacific Ocean. From now through January 2013, you and your clan can take a spin on the ice or participate in other holiday activities at resort such as an elegant Victorian Tea, cookie decorating, and a family s’mores roast on the beach. The activities are bundled for hotel guests as part of the resort’s affordable holiday stay-and-play packages.
