Wonderful News For “Wonder Years” Star

The news could be not be more wonderful for former Wonder Years star Fred Savage and his wife, Jennifer Lynn Stone. PEOPLE Magazine reports that they are now new parents to “a healthy baby a boy.”

Savage’s agent tells the magazine that Savage and his wife “are absolutely thrilled.” The baby was born Saturday night in Los Angeles and weighed in at 6 lbs., 13 oz. The couple has not yet named their new son.

Little Kevin Arnold from “The Wonder Years” is a new dad? Wow, do I feel old. I was just wrapping up my life as a college coed when the popular TV sitcom ended its run in 1993. I used to love watching “The Wonder Years,” especially the episodes where Savage’s character Kevin and Danica McKellar’s character Winnie navigated the bumpy road of adolescence together. I secretly hoped that the two would hook up in real life, but instead Savage found his own “Winnie” in childhood pal, Stone.

Interestingly, Savage and his wife spent a lot of time together as friends growing up in the same Chicago suburb, prior to the TV star’s move to L.A. to play Kevin Arnold on “The Wonder Years.” More than a decade after Savage hit it big, the two childhood friends reconnected at party.

“We started talking and smooching, and we’ve been together ever since,” the actor told PEOPLE after their August 2004 wedding.

Since the cancellation of “The Wonder Years,” Savage has remained in front of the camera, appearing in the ABC sitcom “Crumbs” and in films including “Austin Powers in Goldmember,” “The Rules of Attraction” and “Welcome to Mooseport.” Behind the camera, Savage has been busy producing and directing “Phil of the Future” on the Disney Channel. In addition, he has also directed episodes of the sitcom “Kitchen Confidential” and Nickelodeon’s “Drake & Josh.”
