Working In A Winter Wonderland

This morning, I saw a friendly reminder from my friends here at Families.com that there are ninety – one days until Christmas. While I am currently doing my best to ignore the chilly mornings and evenings as well as any hint of the impending colder season, now is a great time to decide whether you are going to start a full time or part time seasonal home – based business. Here are three ideas to get you started.

If you live somewhere where it snows, then you could start a snow removal business. Whether you offer a basic service like shoveling walkways and small driveways or something more time and labor intensive like plowing and sanding or even removing snow and ice from roofs, now is the time to make sure that you have any equipment that you might need. Also, plan your advertising strategy. You could use anything from the local newspaper to community bulletin boards or even social media, but it is important to have a plan for getting your name out there so that the calls will come in when the snow flies.

Do you have an abundance of evergreens on your property? Hand made wreaths and garlands are beautiful ways to celebrate the season, but not everyone has time to make their own. With a few basic supplies you can offer these popular holiday decorations to others in your community. Scoop up supplies like ribbons, wires, and cutters now so that you will be ready to go once people start decorating for the holidays.

Wreaths and garlands are just one way to deck the halls. If you can crochet snowflakes, knit scarves, carve and paint wooden elves, or make anything else that is fun and festive consider selling your Christmas crafts at local craft fairs or over the internet. Check out your community’s craft fair festival and explore sites like Etsy to see whether one or both of those options appeals to you. Then, get crafting so that your items are ready when people are looking to buy them.
