Question: It is so difficult for me to work out, as I am very overweight. I get short of breath easily and it is so uncomfortable for me just to move let alone bend over to touch my toes. How can I work out without it being so uncomfortable?
Answer: If you are overweight and trying to exercise it will most likely be uncomfortable…..at first. Remember, you are carrying the excess load of that additional weight. Start out slow, but not too slow. You are going to have to push yourself a little bit.okay…you will have to push yourself a lot. It all depends on how badly you want to lose weight. You will want to find an activity that you like. For most overweight people walking is a good start. It is easy. You do not need any equipment. You do not need a partner, although a walking buddy would be nice. You can even walk in place at home during bad weather. Anything will work just as long as you keep your body in motion. As long as you are keeping your body in motion you are burning up calories. Once you have lost a little bit of weight you can better concentrate on firming and toning your body. For now the main objective is to lose a bit of weight so that you can move more easily without being uncomfortable. Once you have lost your first 20 pounds you will feel like moving more and it will be easier for you to move. You can then move on to more complex exercising like aerobics, yoga, and rowing.
In the meantime you will be burning calories and bulking up your muscle. With this comes a more efficient metabolic system that will better serve you to burn your calories at a more substantial rate. Do not wait to exercise. Do not keep putting it off. The only one that you hurt is yourself. The longer you wait the more depressed you become. Fight for you life today. Prove to yourself and no one else that you can do it. You will be overjoyed when all is said and done and you can look in the mirror and say to yourself, “I look really good!”
