A great way to workout is with a buddy. There are several reasons why I have found this to be a fun and rewarding way to workout.
Here are some steps to get you started. The first step is to find a workout buddy or two. This could be a spouse, friend, or coworker. Basically anyone who you don’t mind spending time with and that you can depend on. Your next step is to find out what workouts you are both interested in doing. You may want to try a few different activities till you know what works best for the both of you. Once you do, make a schedule of a few times in a month that you are available to meet with your workout buddy. When you make a commitment to someone else to do a workout together, you are more likely to follow-through.
A coworker can make a great workout buddy. Find someone who you enjoy being around at work and see if they would like to walk for part of a lunch break or after work once a week. This can be convenient for the both of you. A tip would be to keep a pair of sneakers and socks in your trunk so you are always prepared for a walk.
With a friend you may might to find a nearby park that has a long loop, perfect for walking or jogging. Or take a kickboxing or zumba class near your house. I have learned for me that it is easier to go to a workout class when you go with a friend.
Committing to do workouts with a buddy has been a great experience for me. I love to hike, and so do two of my closest friends. Every weekend we contact each other and schedule in one or two hikes for the upcoming week. I enjoy hiking with my workout buddies because not only do I get in a great workout, but I also get to spend time socializing. With how busy we all are these days it is nice to kill two birds with one stone.
