It’s March, and while it may still be a bit chilly, April will be here before we know it. Those April showers will be washing the ground and getting it ready for more than flowers. This is the perfect time to start getting your yard and garden area ready for planting, even if planting doesn’t usually begin in your area until weeks from now.
Getting the ground turned over and allowing the rain to soak in and hydrate it with not only moisture, but also nutrients, will give your yard or garden an advantage over your neighbor’s property. This is a good time to start fertilizing and administering weed/feed products.
Feeding and hydrating your soil will insure that is rich and hearty when it’s time to start planting fruits, vegetables, trees, flowers, bushes, groundcover and grass.
This is also a good time to start plotting out your garden as well as your landscaping projects. You can have all the details in order in advance and start watching for early bird deals and good prices on the things you will need. Plotting things out will give you a better idea of how much material you will need, so you’ll be able to put together an estimated figure of what those projects will cost.
Now is also a good time to pick up some yard and garden tools, decorative accents and accessories, and garden or landscaping supplies. They are generally less expensive when you don’t wait until the peak season to purchase them. You can be ready to go as soon as the weather permits, if you start planning now.
There will also be sales early in the season, so knowing ahead of time how many items you need or how much material you need will make you better prepared to take advantage of early sales.
