I must admit, of all the peculiar Hollywood match-ups that have been made legal I thought this one would last at least a couple of years… okay at least a year… okay at least six months. But, I was wrong. According to court papers, Pamela Anderson has filed for divorce from Kid Rock after less than four months of marriage.
Anderson’s rep told PEOPLE magazine: “It wasn’t a happy Thanksgiving.”
On Monday, Anderson posted the following message on her Web site:
”Divorce. Yes, it’s true. Unfortunately impossible.”
I take it Anderson meant that the relationship was “unfortunately impossible” to continue and not that Rock himself was “unfortunately impossible” to live with. I say that because for the majority of their marriage Anderson has been in Vancouver filming the movie “Blonde and Blonder” while Rock has been (for the most part) in Los Angeles.
Kid Rock—–whose real name is Robert Ritchie—has yet to publicly comment about the split. However, according to news reports, both he and Anderson filed individual divorce petitions today, each citing irreconcilable differences. In addition, both asked that the court not get involved in awarding spousal support.
If I remember correctly this unique couple’s courtship was longer than their actual marriage. They married or at least had several “wedding” ceremonies–the first on July 29th on a yacht in St. Tropez. In a note posted on her website the following day, Anderson described the nuptials as “The best most romantic wedding of all time.” The pair then made their union legal on August 3rd at a Beverly Hills courthouse, and held a third, surprise wedding on August 17th onstage at Nashville’s Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge.
The news of the split comes just weeks after Anderson confirmed that she had suffered a miscarriage while filming her new movie. That event is traumatic enough… now Anderson is faced with a divorce… that’s a lot to contend with. Hopefully she will take solace in her two sons (with first husband Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee)– Brandon, 10, and Dylan, 8.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Anderson and Rock have had to deal with a parting of ways—they had dated and broken up before: They first got together in spring 2001, became engaged in April 2002 and then split in June 2003—so perhaps, things get easy the second time around. Who knows? But, it is Hollywood after all.
