Yoga Pretzels

Yoga has physical, mental and spiritual benefits for people of all ages. If you have been thinking about introducing yoga to your kids, books, DVDs and games can help you introduce the concepts and poses in a way that is fun and relaxed.

There are several products on the market that are geared toward children and families. One of these is called Yoga Pretzels. It is basically a set of cards that can be used to introduce the concepts of yoga to kids of all ages. The cards are often used by yoga instructors in classes with children, PE teachers introducing yoga at school and by parents at home.

The cards are large enough to easily see the drawings and clear descriptions are given for each pose. The cards include stories, sayings, quotes and other information, which increases interest for kids of all ages and inspires adults and children alike.

A nice thing about using cards, rather than a story book or DVD is you can use the cards in a variety of ways. You may choose to introduce the cards one at a time, allow the kids to select cards or let them pick a card for your hand. Also, unlike story books, these cards aren’t geared for very young children and boring to older kids.

With the cards, you can also tailor the practice to fit the needs of your child or students on any given day. On days when they are fully engaged, focused and eager to try more, you can do a bunch of cards. On slower days when they are impatient or resistant, you can stop with one.

For parents and teachers, using Yoga Pretzels is an easy and fun way to keep kids active. Even when the weather is bad or time is limited, this is an activity that can be easily integrated into your schedule.
