Young Women: “All Times, in All Places, in All Things”

In her talk “All Times, in All Things, in All Places” Sister Elaine S Dalton speaks to the young women. She was called to be the General President of the Young Women during this session of conference. Sister Dalton opens her talk by emphasizing the Christ came to this earth with a mission, and he stayed focus on that mission his entire life.

Sister Dalton teaches that we are here at this time for a specific reason. There are many blessings that can be found through the gospel. It is important to stay focused and steadfast on the right things in life. Sister Dalton emphasizes the importance of having Jesus Christ be our foundation. This means that you trust him and are obedient to the commandments.

Sister Dalton shares a story of a student body president of a university. He went to a leadership meeting with other student body presidents. One of the exercises had each of them choose if they disagreed or agreed with certain issues. This young man was the only one who disagreed with premarital sex, but he stood firm. At first he was laughed at, but later in the week several of the other participants spoke to him privately about how they admired him for taking his stand.

Sister Dalton also shares an experience of a time when she felt alone and discouraged. She decided to pray, and she felt encouragement and the strength to continue. She was able to finish her task and everything worked out for her. Similarly we can all turn to Christ during times of trial and hardship.

This is a wonderful talk that teaches the importance of making Christ the center and foundation of our lives. As we come to rely on Him, we can find peace and strength to face the challenges of our day. I hope that you will take the time to read and ponder it.
