At the beginning of every year, the leaders in Young Women’s will put on the New Beginnings program. This program is designed to outline the purposes of the Young Women’s program. It will introduce the theme, and the motto of the Young Women’s program. The meaning of each of the seven values will be reviewed and explained.
The program is one of two more formal programs that the Young Women’s leaders put on every year. The class presidencies are supposed to assist in the planning of the evening as well. This night is designed to help the girls that are just moving up into Young Women’s feel welcome and supported. Parents are invited to attend as well. Many wards plan this activity to have Sunday dress.
You can do the presentation in a number of ways. It is common to display value projects and goals that have been passed off, in order to give ideas to others, who are working on their Personal Progress. There are often musical numbers presented as well. You may consider planning skits or asking girls to speak briefly about each value.
If you are not a member of the Church, but you have a daughter who is, you should still go and support her on this important night. It is a chance for her to show off the things that she has accomplished. It will also explain what she is learning and doing in Young Women’s. It will give you an opportunity to meet her leaders and ask any questions you may have concerning the program.
