With all the changes that have been going on lately in our ward, it is a little chaotic. In the shuffle, there have not been any callings made just yet. So, the new bishop asked me to help out with our church halloween party since I had worked most recently with the children in our ward. So I agreed.
This year, we aren’t going to do a trunk or treat like many wards do. While I love that idea, and it is usually so fun and simple, we are going to try and throw together some activities that the kids will enjoy where they can “win” candy in a carnival-like atmosphere. We are also having a potluck, but thankfully, I’m not in charge of that part of things!
We have chosen a few games that I think the kids will love. They are simple, but maybe these are ideas you can incorporate into your own Halloween festivities.
First, we are doing an eyeball bounce. You can find bouncy balls that look like eyeballs and just about any dollar store. Think about trying to get the kids to bounce the eyeball once and then have it land in something. If they get the eyeball in the designated spot, then they get a prize!!
Next, we are having a good old fashioned fishing game where the kids can fish for prizes.
I found a great idea on pinterest linked to a website you can find here, where you make your own skeleton out of paper plates. My kids and I are going to put this one together to have on the wall, and then have the primary kids pin the bowtie on the skeleton. I think it will be fun! We can save the skeleton to use over and over for our own family decorations each year.
I also like the idea to make mummies out of toilet paper, and have pumpkin bowling.
Last, I found a link to make your own witch hat ring toss. It is easy to put together, and will be a fun way for the kids to earn some candy! Find the idea here.
There are lots of ideas out there to incorporate into your church halloween party that are fun, innocent, and not too scary. Try them out today! Happy Halloween!
