Your Contact Information Should Be on EVERYTHING

I know this seems like simple advise from Marketing and Promotions 101–but many of us here ARE business beginners. It doesn’t hurt for us to remind ourselves of some of the most basic, tried and true business truths. One of which is to make sure that every thing you hand out, every web page, every piece of mail you mail or email you send–all of it has your business contact information on it.

This only needs to be one line and should include your business name, logo, address, phone number, fax number and web address. E-mail has become a necessity as well. Any letterhead that you create, postcards you have printed and each and every page on your web should have the contact information–or a prominent link to your contact information obvious and visible. After all, you WANT people to know how to get a hold of you so that they can buy your products and services, right?

Keep it simple and keep it legible–make sure the font is big enough to make it easy to read and that you have included all the street names, zip codes, area codes, etc. If you do a great deal of international business, you need to make sure your contact information includes the country code for your phone and fax number (that is the “1” before the area code if you live in the United States of America) and you might even consider your time zone if your customers and prospects will be in various time zones.

If you remember that no piece of paper (invoice, checks, order forms, mail, shipping labels, etc.) should leave your desk and no e-mail should leave your computer without your contact information you will be ensuring that prospects and customers/clients can get in touch with you easily, without having to hunt and wonder how to do it.
