Your Family Responsibility

The family is an important and central unit of the church. The family is also an important and central unit in society. The family provides so much for each of its family members. It is important to realize that as parents we are not only responsible for the physical well being for our children, but we are also responsible for the spiritual and emotional well being.

As parents it is important to guard the time that you have together as a family. You will be sending your children out into the world to participate in activities and attend school. It is important that we prepare our children for the challenges that they will face. It is important to teach our children the principles of the gospel and the commandments so that they can be happy.

It is also important to make the most of the time you have together as a family. This does not mean that you need to read the scriptures or talk about the gospel every minute that you are together, but rather that you should strive to create meaningful family moments together. Some basic family moments could be pancakes every Saturday morning or a pizza and movie night once a month. These traditions will lead to a feeling of unity. They will also create shared memories between your children.

Additionally you need to teach your children how to work together. This could be on the family garden or around the house. It could be teaching them how to solve their problems with each other. Learning to work hard and work well with other people are important skills in this world. It is often hardest to get along well with those you care about the most, and so learning to do this with family will make it much easier throughout their lives.

Finally make sure you do study the gospel together. Teach your children how to pray and receive answers for their prayers. Additionally you should teach your how to study the scriptures on their own. This will help them to find answers to problems once they are adults.
