When I was in high school, I often heard other students say they couldn’t wait until they graduated. Simply put, they were tired of school. These desperate cries grew even louder in college. Most of my fellow classmates could hardly wait until they had finished school and could enter the workforce. I often wonder if they feel the same way now.
I must admit that I, too, was one of those people who was eager to finish the day to day stress of school and wanted to hurry up and obtain a career that I actually liked. Now that I have done just that, I still find myself anxious for the local college class schedule to be delivered. When I was in college the first time, I saw it more as simply a necessity that I must finish in order to get a better job. I wasn’t looking for anything except a degree. That piece of paper meant more to me than the actual experience. I see it totally different now.
Now, I like to take classes just for fun. What a concept! I must say, never underestimate your local junior college. They offer some really great courses on just about everything. I am fortunate enough to live by two great junior colleges. I am impressed at the number of classes they offer and you really can’t beat the price. They offer everything from cooking classes, cake decorating, computer repair, website design, auto mechanics, gardening, you name it. I am at a time in my life where I appreciate education and hope that I never lose my desire for learning new things. So, the next time you receive a class schedule in your mail, think twice before you toss it aside. Open it up. Take a look. You just might be surprised by what you find.
