Welcome to a new feature that I plan to deliver every week here in the Fitness blog. Saturdays are a time where we can recoup from the week, but also to see where we’ve been before moving on to where we are going. With that in mind, every Saturday, I’ll provide you with your fitness week in review and discuss some of the highlights of our previous week here in the Fitness blog. Please let me know what you think of these reviews so I can help tailor them to your needs!

Labor Day was a day for taking it easy and spending with your family, I took the day off from the Fitness blog and focused on quality time with family. It’s important to recognize that fitness is about the mind, the body, the heart and the soul. Quality time with your family is as important as getting in your daily exercise and eating nutritious meals.

We talked about Stroller Moms and the fitness classes that are becoming more and more popular all over the country. You can do stretches to the tune of Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes and not only entertain your baby or toddler, but also get your body fit and in shape as you walk, bend, stretch and do lunges and go wherever your course takes you.

We talked about fitness tips and how to make the most of your workout, but also how to keep yourself healthy and safe as we head into the flu season. It’s important to remember that a flu or cold is a virus and viruses can affect your muscles. That’s why you tend to tend to feel weak or overtired when you are ill or you experience muscle soreness. Remember that your heart is also a muscle and you don’t want to overwork it.

We talked about your self-image and how when you look at yourself in the mirror, you may be on a stream of negative self-talk. We talked about how important it was to focus on the positives and to stop being so self-critical. When you feel good about yourself, it will show and it’s important to remember that the body you see in the mirror is a vessel and it’s not representative of whom you are. Loving yourself and reinventing your own self-image are both very possible for you.

We talked about the 10 reasons to do your cardio exercise every day from how it helps you lose weight to managing stress to more. American Expansion and the studies done by the Trust for America’s Health. We talked about the fact that obesity is up across the board in the United States and that the Trust for America’s Health is working to raise not only public awareness, but funding for public health initiatives such as increasing walkways and parks in urban areas to give people more places to go. We also talked about the benefits of jump roping and adding that blast of cardio, toning and fat burning to your workout.
