How many people are beginning to hear the familiar cries of, “I’m bored! There’s nothing to do!” Well, good news, there’s plenty to do, right in your own back (or front) yard. Get everyone up and out of the house.
Something as simple as a bottle of bubbles can lead to a laugh-filled afternoon. Take the time, even if it’s just a few minutes, to go outside and play. Yes, adults too. You really don’t even have to have kids as an “excuse” to go outside and blow bubbles or do something silly and fun.
Using your imagination and encouraging your family members to do the same, is as healthy as it is fun. Being outside in beautiful weather is just good for the soul. It doesn’t always have to be yard work or gardening either, although these things are enjoyable for many people too.
Just sitting outside breathing in the fresh air is a great way to unwind after work. There’s just something soothing about it. Have a spur of the moment outdoor meal. It doesn’t have to be an elaborate picnic, just grab your plates and head outside.
You can laugh, but I have even enjoyed kicking back in the kiddie pool (both with and without the kids). If you’re not up for that, just pull up your lawn chair and dip your fit in the cool water. It feels good. There are no guarantees that you won’t get splashed and end up in the pool anyway, but you might be able to try it for a few minutes before the kids “catch” you.
Break out the water balloons and water cannons. Notice, I did not say “guns.” I said cannons. If I’m going to play, I want a big, fat water tank. None of this sissy stuff. If we’re going to get wet, then let’s get wet!
When is the last time you went outside to play?
