YouTube Roundup: Amazing Robots

I’m fascinated by all of those household robots that promise to do everything from make toast to hand wash the dishes. Here is a round up of some of the most interesting, scary or fascinating YouTube videos of household robots.

Readybot gets put through its paces as a kitchen helper. Set to peppy music the Readybot opens a can of soup, grasps and moves dishes around and scrapes garbage off of the counter.

This next video scares me a bit. In it, a very humanoid-type service robot pours a cup of water and then rinses the cup out afterward in the sink. I’m not quite sure that I would want this guy in my kitchen. There is just something about the way it stops and stares at objects that makes me feel like it is considering the fact that it is force to work for humans. Seriously, though, this one is pretty impressive.

The extreme human robot video may sound scary, but it is the cutest robot video I have ever seen. This adorable little robot starts out by skateboarding across the room. Later it does adorable little balancing tricks that had all of my kids giggling.

And finally, no round up of amazing robots could be complete without the famous tiny Sony robots. Here you can see them in their very own music video. Yea they are cute, and yes their movement is impressive, right down to the disbelieving little head shake they do. But the real surprise comes at the end.
